Without Silo 1 to help, surely they will all just run out of supplies and ultimately die? Shift takes the reader backwards in time—back to the origins of the Silo system and the end of the world as we, the readers, know it. This was a satisfying, if not frustrating conclusion to the Silo series. Specific Spoilers for Shift: Or is it better to work hard to make this world a better place? Donald has no idea how or why this happened, but he takes the opportunity to find out the rest of the secrets about the Silo project.
