So acceleration, maximum velocity and speed endurance are at a premium in this race, whereas a pure 400m runner can get away with less skill here.
Running your own race is especially important in the 200-meters because some sprinters will peak too early in the race. I have tried it and also benefited from it. Keep pumping your arms throughout the whole race to really push you along especially in the last 25 or so meters when your legs start to become tired.

Stay low for the first 10 meters as you accelerate. The 200 meter sprint is the Rodney Dangerfield of the sprint events.

Now, mind you, improvements in strength, max speed, speed endurance, etc. But once they got into the final, they were spent and faded coming off the turn.
